Belagavi, Karnataka: In a proactive move to tackle potential summer water shortages, Belagavi Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Rahul Shinde has instructed officials to ensure that no village in the district faces a drinking water crisis.

Chairing a review meeting on April 28, Shinde emphasized the need for coordinated and urgent action, directing authorities to prioritize both drinking water supply and fodder availability. He ordered that villages experiencing water shortages must receive tanker supply daily or on alternate days.

Shinde also directed officials to identify at least three private borewells in villages prone to water scarcity. In case of emergency, these sources can be utilized, with the Zilla Panchayat compensating owners through a user fee.
Highlighting the importance of resource management, he called for awareness campaigns to promote judicious use of water. Additionally, officials were instructed to ensure adequate fodder for livestock and construct open water storage points in villages.
The initiative aims to ensure preparedness and prevent hardship for both residents and livestock during the peak summer months.
