Army No. 15617991 / Y Guardsman Sanjay Nimbalkar was briefly transferred from 19 Guards / Bahadur Company to 21 Rastriya Rifles on March 2008.
During service in Rastriya Rifles on 27 January 2009, it was discovered that some terrorists were hidden in a house in Bakhiaghar village, and the people of the house have been taken to hostage.
The Eco Company of 21 Rashtriya Rifles was directed to eliminate the terrorist from that house and save the people safely.
In this action, Guardsman Sanjay Nimbalkar was appointed as the leader of the Rapid Arms Forces of the Company Commander.
This company laid siege to the house by taking the village under its siege. At the same time, the terrorists fired indiscriminately on the team, and in this proxy war, Guardsman Sanjay Nimbalkar was shot in the left leg and he was badly injured.
After some time, this brave jawan, despite being injured, changed his fire position and broke down on the terrorists and killed a terrorist who was the commander of Lashkar-e-Taiba, and evacuated his team and civilians safely from the terrorists.
Got it done For this indomitable courage, valor and dedication, the Government of India honored Guardsman Sanjay Nimbalkar with the Army Medal on the auspicious occasion of Independence Day on 15 August 2009.
The battalion and the nation are proud of such a soldier.
Jai Hind.
