Women’s from Ambewadi, Mannur and Gojga villages had to visit the Gram Panchayat frequently to get employment through the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme. Even then, the panchayat did not care about the poor workers. As a result, many workers were left jobless. More than 30 Kayak Bandhu from Gojga, Mannur and Ambewadi villages met recently to resolve these issues, At that meeting, it was decided to hold a strike. The march was also led by ‘Mazdoor Navnirman Sangha’ activists, Kavita Murkutty, Advayappa Kumbargi, Baswant Kole, Vitthal Desai, Yallappa Gasti, Sudhir Kakatkar and Rahul Patil, Also Kayak Bandhu from Mannur and Ambewadi villages (Yashoda Govindache, Sudha Hongekar, Rekha Jadhav, Shobha Katkar, Sunita Atwadkar, Sulochana Tarle, Malu Mandolkar, Urmila Chougule, Laxmi Kadam, Gita Sambrekar, Rajshree Jain, Sunita Tarle, Chanda Kalkundri, Urmila Kakatkar, Surekha Mandolkar, Sarika Kadam, Kalpana Hugar, Madhuri Chowgule, Surekha Pujari, Rekha Tarle, Rekha Patil, Sunita Kakatkar, Manisha Sambrekar, Anita Donkari, Savita Chowgule, Malu Shahapurkar, Gita Janai and Maya Balekundri) were present.
Hundreds of women marched in front of the District Panchayat from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. had sat in front of the Zillha Panchayat till they got the right answer from CEO H.V. Darshan. Hundreds of women workers were show presence at the strike.
