There will be a boost given to the IT industry, as the state government has planned to set up three more IT industry clusters at Belgaum, including Mysore and Shivamogga. The existing IT park in Mangalore and Bangalore will replicate success in other regions across the state.
Various new projects and ongoing developments are made by the state government which includes Karnataka Digital Economy Mission (KDEM) which help to promote digital growth, attract investments and innovations in the field of science and technology in the state.
The mission will help and work for the increase, and will contribute to the digital economy to the gross state domestic product (GSDP) by almost 30 % and will help to create around 30 lakh jobs across the state over the next 5 years.
Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister C N Ashwathnarayan along with MLA Abhay Patil has recently met Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and requested over 750 acres of land in Belagavi to facilitate the establishments of the proposed IT park.
According to the reports, the land is in the possession of the defense department. Further, he added that if the land is handed over to the state government, it will be used to establish an IT park and also to set up establish an Electronic Hardware, Aerospace and other manufacturing industries.
For the IT park development, the proposed site is adjacent to the National Highway (NH 4). Though the state government had ordered for the resumption of the land in late 2012 November, it still continues to be in the possession of the defense department.
