Belgaum is the second capital and Suvarna Soudha was built to make it official
Deputy Chief Minister Govinda Karjol while addressing the media said that Belgaum is the second capital and reason behind building the Suvarna Soudha is to make it official as a second capital of Karnataka.
With the dispute of ongoing border issue it was cleared officially saying that the Belgaum will be the second capital of Karnataka. Also, he mentioned that there are states having two capitals. Similarly Belgaum is the Second capital of Karnataka.
The Suvarna Soudha was given grant in 2006 by the Karnataka assembly under the JD(s) – BJP regime . Around 450 Cr was spent in building the Suvarna Soudha.
Also, the officials cleared that the few state- level departments will be relocated to the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha. Discussions are ongoing with the same.
