Shettar Reviews Smart City & Yallamma Temple Projects

Belagavi MP Jagadish Shettar held two key review meetings to assess progress on major development projects in Belagavi and Savadatti.

Smart City Mission Review

Shettar reviewed works under the Belagavi Smart City Mission and directed officials to speed up all pending projects. Of the ₹990 crore sanctioned, 104 projects worth ₹931 crore have been completed, while four remain pending.

He expressed concern over delays in allotting shops at the Tilakwadi Kala Mandir and the transfer of land for the new bus stand near CBT. He also instructed officials to prioritize road repairs ahead of the upcoming Legislature Session and to maintain city cleanliness.

Updates were taken on the ₹24-crore AMRUT lake rejuvenation works, the delay in implementing the ₹135-crore VISHWAS solid waste management project, and land acquisition for the proposed STP. Officials assured that pending approvals are in progress.

Savadatti Yallamma Temple Development Review

Shettar also chaired a meeting regarding development works at the historic Savadatti Sri Renuka Yallamma Temple under the Central Government’s SASCI (Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment – Iconic Tourist Destination) Scheme.

Tourism officials briefed him on the ₹118-crore sanctioned works aimed at strengthening basic infrastructure and overall temple development. With approval already received, the proposal has been forwarded to higher tourism authorities for the tendering process. Shettar contacted the Joint Commissioner of Tourism and urged immediate approval for tender issuance.

He instructed officials to ensure timely execution of all projects, amounting to a combined cost of ₹215 crore from central and temple funds.

The meeting was attended by Ashok Dudagunte, Secretary of the Yallamma Temple Development Authority; Geetha Kaulagi, Commissioner of the Yallamma Tourism Development Board; Tourism Deputy Director Badiger; and other officials.
